Hi. My name is Lois Griffin Powell. I grew up in Milford, Connecticut. I attended Hampton University and Southern Connecticut State University where I graduated. When I married I moved to Bay Shore, Long Island. I received my Master’s Degree in Writing and taught writing in Babylon, Long Island. My husband is a retired principal. We have two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren. When I retired, we moved to Locust Grove, VA in 2003 at Lake of the Woods which had been a vacation home for us.
Four of my poems were published by The International Poetry Society in their poetry anthologies. I have written articles for local newspapers. I love writing all types of stories but especially children’s stories.
I am a member of the Windmore Foundation for the Arts, The Professional Writers Alliance, and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
I enjoy playing tennis, golf, swimming, reading and, of course, writing.
